Welcome to Our Student Chapter
“I became a member of the SJCMA Student Chapter at Rowan SOM because I wanted to further develop my faith as I progressed through medical school. SJCMA provided me the opportunity to meet various Catholic peers to which I can embrace my faith with. In the past couple years, I have been introduced a beautiful community of both medical students and physicians, attending various events and masses. Personally, my faith has helped me to cope with many stressful challenges that came along with the burden of medical school. In addition, I have learned how important of a role religion plays in medicine itself. My favorite part of the student chapter was the monthly Bible studies that were held. These Bible studies allowed students to be able to sit down with the local priest in a small group setting. I believe it is in the best interest for Catholic medical students to join the student chapter of SJCMA. Students will receive special guidance from priests and Catholic physicians throughout their time in medical school. I am confident that I have developed long-lasting connections that will benefit my future career. In addition, I believe that I have been introduced to a community that will help me to maintain and advocate for my religious beliefs as I progress into a career of medicine.” Jared Futoro, 4th year Med. Student at Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine
